★ 4 : Minor extension (no new functional group)
The authors reported (Tunable Emission Properties of Indolizine-Based Aggregation-Induced Emission Luminogens for White-Light Emission) the application of Jeon et al.'s one-pot ester-to-aldehyde conversion on their own indolizine intermediate, compound 3 (substrate not covered in the original work) to compound 4 in 59% yield on 25 mg scale. The only deviation in the procedure was that the authors used NH4Cl aq. to quench the reaction instead of 1N HCl as reported by Jeon and co-workers.
